In June 2018 Clarke Thorell joined the Lincoln Center Theater production of My Fair Lady, on Broadway, in which he was seen as Professor Zoltan Karpathy, and in the role of Henry Higgins as understudy to Harry Hadden-Paton. Also seen as Kruger in the Broadway revival of The Front Page, starring Nathan Lane, John Slattery & John Goodman, Clarke made his Broadway debut in The Who's Tommy, directed by Des McAnuff. He originated the roles of Corny Collins in the Broadway company of Hairspray, Jim Farrell in Titanic, and welcomed boos & hisses playing the role of Rooster Hannigan in the 2013 Broadway revival of Annie. Clarke pinch-hit for guitar virtuoso John Pizzarelli at Radio City Music Hall in Sinatra: His Voice. His World. His Way, stepped into the long-running Mamma Mia! as Harry Bright, and starred opposite Megan Hilty in New York City Center Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Clarke's off-Broadway credits include the critically acclaimed, Cloud Nine at The Atlantic Theater Company (in which he played a 4-year-old British girl named Cathy), Satellites, Lone Star Love, Sondheim's Saturday Night, and the New York Theatre Workshop's developmental production of Sondheim's Wise Guys, directed by Sam Mendes with musical direction by Ted Sperling. Among his regional credits are Orsino in Twelfth Night, directed by Jack O'Brien at the Old Globe in San Diego; Charles in School for Scandal at McCarter Theatre; and Homer in Floyd Collins, directed by Tina Landau, in San Diego, Philadelphia, and Chicago. Film and television credits include The Post, Chicago Med, Elementary, The Americans, House of Cards, The Good Wife, The Knick, "Russ" in 30 Rock (Meet The Woggels), Men in Black III, Boardwalk Empire, NYC 2-2, Rescue Me, Kings, Law & Order - SVU, The Winning Season, and The Sopranos. As a vocalist, Clarke has performed with artists including Sting, Dave Brubeck, Liza Minnelli, ABBA, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Red Clay Ramblers, Pete Townshend, and is a proud member of Michael McElroy's Broadway Inspirational Voices. He debuted his first NYC solo concert, "Songs I Wish I'd Written" At Birdland Jazz Club, & regularly performs at 54 Below, Joe's Pub & across the U.S. Clarke humbly prides himself on his ear for mimicry & impersonations, and aims to actualize his lifelong dream of becoming the next official voice of Walt Disneys Donald Duck.
